DECISIONS MADE....OUR ANNIVERSARY...

Thanks to all of you that voted. I think we have reached a decision...drum roll please....We are going to New Orleans....French Quarter here we come! YEAH! The final factors in our decision are the king cakes, oysters, and shrimp that we want to bring back home. I have already made reservations for the two hotels we are staying at and am putting together an itinerary and figuring out all the details of everything. If anyone has any good tips, let us know. I know that we are going to the Audubon zoo and aquarium, as well as visiting some much-desired restaurants. I want to rent bikes to ride around and take the street car places, oh, and we should end up doing a swamp boat tour! How fun does that sound? I hope they let me hold an alligator! If they do, I promise to have plenty of pics to post just for ya'll! You can view all the details of the hotels that we are staying at by visiting www.neworleansfinehotels.com. We are staying at St. James Hotel st james hotel Pictures, Images and Photosand

Hotel LeCirquephysics in new orleans Pictures, Images and Photos.

This is great because we can walk right on over to French Quarter. This is a good thing, because then I won't feel so guilty about what I eat while we are there. :) We have reservations for this Italian Restaurant. It's supposed to be one of the BEST Italian restaurants with this special Chef...it's big time. Check it out at www.cafegiovanni.com

You have to eat at Antoine's-or commander's palace, at least once. Cafe pontalba has amazing breakfast, and you don't have to wait 5 hours like you do at cafe du monde (which btw is a lot less crowded in the afternoon.) It's right near St. Louis Cathedral, so you can't miss it. definitely go to the Cabildo, and don't bet with anyone on anything! the homeless people make a killing off tourists who make stupid bets with them. the french market is boring, don't feel bad if you skip it. SKIP the cemeteries...they're extremely dangerous.
Where are you going on the swamp tour? Manchac has the best ones, and some of the best seafood in louisiana, but I don't know how far you guys are willing to drive...and you should really go to Nottoway or Oak Alley. And if you've already seen it, I would definitely skip Bourbon Street. Especially at night. Yuckkkk.
Hope that helps! :)

I have never heard of "Antoine's" or "Commanders palace". What type of food are they? Are they seafood, cajun, italian???? Are they really that good? Where are they located? I could only imagine how crowded Cafe Du Monde gets! We will surely eat there once just to say we did. But it looks like we will have to try Cafe Pontalba. Is it in French Quarter too? Oh, trust me, we won't even TALK to anyone in French Quarter, let alone bet with them! Lol! And the cemeteries, skipped! No problem! Josh wouldn't take me if I wanted to go, anyways! We were thinking about doing the Cajun Pride swamp tour. Heard of it? Where's Manchac? If they have a place where we can get a sack of oysters, I'm sure Josh won't mind the drive! Have you ever done the "power pass"? It's where you can buy a pass to get into all sorts of stuff for one low price. Was wondering if it would be worth it. What's Nottoway and Oak Alley? Never heard of it. Also, we haven't seen Bourbon street, but I'm sure we will skip it anyways...we've heard stories. And I honestly don't think we will be around French Quarter at night unless maybe going somewhere to eat. Josh is really wierd about stuff like that. Which is a good thing, especially in New orleans. Have you heard of the hotels we are staying in? Let me know if you have. I did a little research on them, but it's always good to hear straight from someone you know. Thanks for all the advice. I will take all that I can get. Let me know if you can think of anything else! Love ya!

I recently was in N.O in November. I reccommend Brennan's for brunch!

If you are in the French Quarter at night and need a drink! Head over to the Hotel Montelone
http://hotelmonteleone-px.trvlclick.com/index.cfm
and visit their famous Carousel Bar! It's well worth the amazing drinks. They are a client of mine...so if you mention Omkar Pund he is from Indian, he is the Bar Manager, let him know that you are a friend of Erika's at HRC International! He will treat you well! Have fun!

Antoine's is French-Creole, Commander's Palace is owned by the Brennan's...they serve Creole food. Antoine's is considered the best restaurant in N.O. Cafe Pontalba is really easy to find...just stand directly in front of St. Louis Cathedral and look left. And yeah, that's the heart of the French Quarter. I don't know how far the drive is to Manchac...you could ask someone. Nottoway and Oak Alley are gorgeous plantations...you could mapquest it, cause again, I don't remember how far the drive was. :) I don't know anything about the hotels, but they look nice.
Have fun! :)

Of course you can go with us, Jenny. But I think you'll have to get your own room, just in case I'm right in thinking that you don't want to see Josh's white legs. Lol! :) And seriously, WHEN are you NOT hungry? Even when you're not pregnant you eat all the time...and never gain an ounce...which I hate you for. But much love!!!

Casey, I just sent Josh a text message telling him that we have strict orders from you to eat at Antoines. Lol. Seriously, I did. I guess we will have to try the others as well, if we have the time. But I will definitely be adding Antoine's to the itenerary! Thanks for all the advice. I am sooooo looking forward to this trip! It is looooong overdue!!!

Erika, I checked out the website for Brennan's. The food sounds sooooo YUMMY! I think that is another hot spot that we will have to hit while we are there. As for the drink, we won't be doing that. We don't drink alcohol, but thanks anyways!!! Do you guys have any other suggestions as far as DOING something? I have been told that we need to go to Nottoway and Oak Alley, which I would love to do, but will depend on how far they are. And like I said, we are definitely doing a swamp boat tour, the zoo, and aquarium. Are we missing anything?
